ESP is one of the pioneers of utilizing unique and even bizarre body shapes on their guitars, and not only that, they also helped make these type of guitars much more affordable. This tuning is sometimes referred to as "Romantic" tuning today, or as "Baroque" tuning (presumably because the tuning may be useful for transcriptions of Baroque music). The PRS S2 Custom 24 is a stripped down version of the expensive yet sought after PRS Custom 24 guitar, and because of its accessibility, it helped put the Custom 24 design into the hands of more players.
