Hey! Remember the Eighties?

Every generation has a soundtrack that is all their own.  It follows them through their life, ready to remind them of happy times when they were young.  I too, it seems, am a product of my youth.  While I was a big fan of eighties music while I was living it, I never thought that it defined a part of me.  I recall a significant conversation with my best friend about how we weren’t going to be like those “moldy oldies” who sat around decades later complaining that their music was the only kind of music worth listening to.  Yet, decades later, I find myself still enthralled by eighties music.
It’s not a constant thing.  It’s definitely not the only music I listen to.  Currently, I’m discovering an unexpected infatuation with J-Pop, no doubt linked to my love of anime.  Still, whenever I hear an old favorite or even a forgotten gem from that era of mullets, spandex, torn shirts and MTV, I get happy.  It transports me to a time when I was young, free and the world was wide open for me.  It just makes me feel good to be alive!  I guess that’s what good music does, at least for me.  And I hope that for you, there is a special kind of music that by simply listening to it, it unlocks the child inside and let’s them out to play for a little while!
So if you feel like reminiscing a bit check out a few of these things…Here’s a fun quiz on 80’s music lyrics.  Try doing the quiz before you check out these videos that may take you on a trip back in time…

Sometimes you scare me, ya know? :)

I still remember that one babysitting gig you had where you dressed us up as Go-Go’s.

You did not say what your score was on the quiz, oh Cheeky Tartness. Sadly I missed two (sigh), both because of slight variations such as “your” instead of “you”. Oh, wait, is it scary or what that I only missed two? Hmm, I’ll have to think about that.

However, as one of your girly partners in crime from the 80s (the best, I might add ;-) I have to agree with you about the special magic of that time.

Loved the post, by the way…but the videos you had are all gone on YouTube :-(

    XO

Oh bummer! I didn’t realize they had yanked the videos! I’ll have to find some more. I really enjoyed the link you included in your comment. That’s a fun one! Thanks so much for commenting and yes, you’re right about being my partner in crime! We had some amazing times! As far as the quiz, I can’t recall my score but honestly, Jason and I did it together and we have different strengths so that probably affected our score. Thanks again!
